GIU day 5 - Hugs

Hello:

Final day of my GIU is here. First I want to thank everyone who has commented here or in the FB posts. Your comments have brought a smile to my face!

If you are new here, you may not know that my family is obsessed with dachshunds. They are just so cute and full of personality. Currently there's 3 in the family: Maia (lives with me, top left), Godiva (live with my parents, bottom left) and the newest baby, Peach (lives with my little brother, right picture). Maia came home during the pandemic in 2020 and she has been a blessing. I named her after my "brand". The name Maia came to me a few years in a dream and the way Maia found us, was like a dream so the name fit perfectly.

So today's card features Maia! The doxie image is from the set Pawsome Peepers. I colored it with Copics. The rest of the images are from the set ...say it with love, which is perfect for this coming season and currently on sale! Other supplies used: Glossy accents, Color Bloom Gold Foil Spray mist, clear and gold embossing powder, VersaMark ink, Gina Marie Designs die, and Distress inks (Wilted violet, Mustard seed & Cracked Pistachio).

Well, again thank you all for your kind comments. You may like my FB fan page, Maia Ink. I'll keep sharing all my crafting over there. Next week I'll be selecting the 2 winners, within all those who commented on the posts, for the 2 gift certificates from Unity Stamp Co.

I like you! GIU day 4!

 Hola again!

So, the girl that said that she didn't like Valentine's day... found herself making many cute love cards. *sigh and today I bring you not one, but 2 cards! For today's cards, I went with stamps sets from a few years back and a technique I hadn't used in a while, foiling with transfer gel.

In the first card, to create the background I used stamps from the set Everything Love. This one was released back in 2014. The cute panda is from the Kit of the Month April 2013 You Make my Heart Puffy. The panda image really is holding a flower but I didn't stamp that part and stamped the little heart from the ...Say it with love set. I'm in love with this card and it will definitely be for my son <3.

For the second card, I just couldn't throw away what was left from the gold foil after making the first card's background. So I put transfer gel on the hole front of the card and used the foil as a negative. I couldn't get a smooth surface as I wanted but I actually like the result as it kinda look as brush strokes. To complete this card, I stamped the owl from the Kit of the Month January 2013. I couldn't find it to link it so it may be discontinued.

Remember to comment as I'll be randomly choosing 2 winners of a $20 gift credit from Unity Stamp Co.

See you tomorrow for my last post of the week.

GIU day 3! Piece of cake

 Hola!

I'm half way through my GIU week. For today's card I went back to basic supplies, good old Crayola crayons. I saw a video/reel recently of a girl coloring an image and wanted to try the technique. I forgot to save the reel to give proper credit to that creator :( The technique is to color, applying pressure to the crayon and then scraping the color off, removing the excess wax. It leaves a shiny, smooth finish. Pretty sure I used to do something similar when little. I had fun coloring the image from the set Rainbow Birthday with this technique. The pattern paper is from the Rainbow Vibes paper pack. The die is from Gina Marie Designs. The sentiment is from the same stamp set, Rainbow Birthday. I finished the card with a bit of Glossy Accents on the candle fire and sequins.

Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win $20 gift credit. I was lucky enough to win this from last weeks GIU posts. So order coming soon!

GIU day 2 - Happy!

 Hi!

Welcome back for day 2 of GIU. Today I bring you another cutie card. From this and yesterday's card you would never guess that Valentine's day is my least favorite holiday. Don't know why but I just don't "feel" it. Still, I always buy Valentine's stuff and make cute gifts for my son and do enjoy crafting the season, but no, I still don't like Valentine's Day. Have you seen the movie "Valentine's Day"? I love it! But I would have been the girl planning the "I hate Valentine's Day party" with all the cute goodies LOL.

Ok, now back to today's card. After making yesterday's card, I just couldn't throw away one of the cut outs after making the background. Somebody else would have seen a scrap piece of paper to throw out, my eyes would only see a stencil! So I used it as a stencil to create the background of today's card with Distress Inks (colors used: Shaded Lilac, Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord & Worn Lipstick). For the sentiment and die cut, I used the set Blessed & Happy Everything. This set is so versatile. I finished it with sticky pearls. I didn't have any in a purple hue so I used a Copic marker to color it.

Here's the stencil:

I'll be adding this card to the Cut it Up Challenge #294 ~ Anything Goes.

Until tomorrow!

Happy New Year 2024! Growing in Unity Day 1

Happy New Year 2024 everyone! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! In PR, it's still Christmas. We just celebrated "The 3 Kings day/Epiphany day" and we still have an additional Christmas week. But today's card is not a Christmas one although I may present one later in the week ;) I'm super excited to get a chance to participate in GIU this year again and be able to share my creations. Remember to leave a comment below for a chance to win a $20 gift credit from Unity Stamp Co. For today's card I used some supplies I got on the Brown Thrusday sale. For this card I used the die "Fall-Out Hearts". I'm not sure if it's still available though. I think it was on clearance on the site. What I did was to cut with the die with different papers and then popped up with 3D tape a "frame" to the card base and then placed cut out hearts and glued these to the card base. This way I got some dimension on the background. Not easy to photograph but in person the result is super cool. The image and sentiment is from the set "Just Know Bunny" which I think I got as a freeby on my order. I colored the image using Distress inks and watercolor brush.
Well see you tomorrow for day #2!
