GIU Blog Hop

Hi!

Welcome to Unity's Growing in Unity Blog Hop! If you are following the order, you should be coming from Julissa's blog. If not, below is the list so you can hop along and visit each one of us. Be sure to leave a comment. Unity will be choosing 2 winners to win one of two Unity filled prize packs.

Now, on to my card. My son's birthday is in a few weeks. So I wanted to make a card for him. It is not a typical birthday card, but, it's true! I like him more than ice cream.  He just love colors. I just had to use one of Unity's paper packs Rainbow Vibes. I mean, could this paper be more adorable?! My son LOVES ice cream too so the choice of paper from the pack was pretty obvious. I used a stamp from the Kit of the Month Kit Sweet Summer Love from June 2012. It's an oldie but it has great timeless images and sentiments. That ice cream truck, I just love it!. I used Copics to color the image. Added some dots using regular glittered glue and, of course, used Glossy Accents too. The die used is from Gina Marie.

Well thank you for visiting me. Next on the Hop is Michelle so be sure to stop there and leave a comment too. Here's the full list in case you get lost or missed some one.

Succulent Celebration

Hi!

Bittersweet day... Today's my last Growing in Unity day but it is FRIDAY!!!! WOOP WOOP
This week was my son's first week of school so we are getting use to getting up early again and the school routine. Although I like how much you can get out of the day when getting up early, my body is not a "morning body" LOL

Now to crafting and what you're really here for. Today's card features the June 2016 Unity Sentiment kit Succulent Salutations. I got it recently and hadn't inked it yet. Why did I wait so much to get this set, I have no IDEA! The image is cute and I love the variety of sentiments. It has a sentiment for each occasion.

For this one I used Kraft cardstock as base. Die cut one side for the design. The images are colored with Copics. I used Glossy Accents (of course), glitter glue on some details. I used Sprinkles, spring assortment from Doodlebug Design Inc. Although most have moved on to other embellishments like Nuvo Drops, I still love these type of enamel dots. Plus I have a lot of it, so I'll keep using it! Can we call it "vintage" embellishments? What's your favorite embellishments that are "oldies" but you still like to use? Comment below. I'd love to read your responses. I'll be choosing two random winners for some Unity Stamp Co stamps next week. So stay tuned for the announcement here in my blog and on the Growing in Unity Facebook page. Also, please follow me on my Facebook fan page Maia Ink to follow my crafting journey. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and thanks to Unity Stamp Co for this opportunity

Sweet Thank You - GIU Day 4

¡Hola!

Welcome to day 4 of my week at Growing in Unity from Unity Stamp Co. Today's card is very sweet :D It features 2 sets: I Like Donuts and ...Say it Big. Both sets are on sale right now!!!! Who doesn't love donuts? In Puerto Rico you could say there's a donut fever at this moment. Several artisanal donut shops and food trucks have opened recently. My favorite so far is a food truck called Wood Doughnuts. Their bacon donut, delicious!!!! Ok, back to the card. I'm getting hungry just typing LOL.

For this card, I repeatedly stamped the image from "I Like Donuts". Before coloring it, I heat embossed the "thank you" from "Say it Big" with black embossing powder. Then I colored with Copics. Added Glossy Accents to the glaze of most donuts for a realistic look. As you can see so far, I LOVE Glossy Accents and I think I forever will! I added colored twine on the top to complete the look. I'm in love (and hungry) with the final result. It was hard to capture the gloss from the card in the pictures so below more close ups.

A Close up

The gloss was hard to photograph. Here's another close up.
Remember to leave your comment for a chance to win random stamps from Unity Stamp Co. I will randomly pick 2 winners at the end of the week.

Colorful

Hi!

Welcome back! Middle of the week already. Today I bring you 2 cards using the same stamp set. I used the set Colorful Day I hadn't used this one yet and was eager to ink it up. In the same purchase, I got some Deco foil transfer gel and Deco Foil transfer sheets in Rainbow Shattered Glass that I also hadn't used. So this was actually my first time using it!

For this first card, I foiled the background first. I learned after this first ever try, that the gel dries very fast so that's why I got this distressed look. Although I was a little bummed at first, after looking it for a minute, I liked the look. I colored the brush with Copics and used Glossy Accents for the hearts on the brush. At first, I wasn't going to use any other embellishment on the card but then... a little somebody, who shall remain unnamed, ate ice cream near my card and a drop fell on it. So to cover it, I used the rhinestones. Happy accident!

A closer look... I really loooove how the foil looks on the brush!

For the second card,  I decided the make the background using the paint splatter stamp in the set and then foiled it. Again, not perfect but I like it. I cut a frame with a paper trimmer out of golden cardstock. The brush again was colored with Copics. This one has Glossy Accents on the metal part of the brush. It's hard to capture in pictures, but the colors look so vibrant in person.

I'll keep up practicing foiling. I really liked this technique. Don't forget to leave your comment for a chance to win Unity Stamp Co stamps. See you tomorrow!

Smallest things... GIU second day

Hello everyone!

Second day of my Growing in Unity week. Today, I bring you another baby card. When I saw this set, I had to have it, period. I love pandas. This image is too cute to pass. For this card, I used 3 different sets: sentiments is from Room In My Heart, image from Heartfelt Cuddles and the background was created using the leaf image from You Are This. I used Distress Inks for the background and the Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink Cube for the image and sentiment. The pandas were colored with water color pencils. I added a few drops of Glossy Accents to the background. I chose this color combo because the card is for a baby girl.

Well, don't forget to leave a comment since I'll be choosing two winners that will be receiving free Unity Stamp Co. stamps. I hope you come back tomorrow for day 3!

Welcome to parenthood

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the first post for my week in Growing in Unity from Unity Stamp Co. Today I present you a card I made for a friend and his wife who recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl. For this card, I used the set A Mother's Arms. I colored the image with regular colored pencils. I stamped the image on regular white cardstock, colored and then fussy cut one side. I decorated with glitter glue, sequins and wood veneer heart.

Be sure to leave a comment on this and all posts from Growing in Unity this week. At the end of the week I'll be choosing 2 random winners  who will receive 25 random stamps from Unity Stamp Co. Isn't that awesome!!!!!

See you tomorrow!

After the hurricane...

Hello:

As you can see if you go back the entries on my blog, the last one before the one posted yesterday, was from October 2017. If you ready that entry which was for a blog hop, I wrote about hurricane María. So I wanted to update you on what happened after... At the moment of that entry I was staying in my parents house. We had no electricity still. Electric service was reactivated in my condo, which is about 20 min from my mom's house, late October. I was able to go back home and try to get back to normal. My son's school had already opened so I wanted to be home as soon as possible. With the lack of electricity, traffic from my parent's house to my son's school was horrible. I spent 2 hours each way to get him to school for what would usually take approximate 20 minutes. My parents home got electricity I think 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. After that, there were many, many blackouts. It's been a while since we have a blackout for longer than 15 minutes. Still... it gets me anxious. I have flashlights in different areas of the apartment.

I haven't been posting since then. Why? The first half of 2018, I was trying to adjust to the new normal here. Did you know that in some areas, they got electric service a year after the hurricane landfall? Sadly, very true. Then, thank God, work. We spent like a month or a bit more without income. We were prepared. Others, not. But after a few months, the real estate area, went back to "normal" and since then I've been working A LOT! I have made some cards and ATCs, but mostly got many orders for custom Tshirts so I had $ for extra crafting supplies :D

Anyway.. with the lack of posting explained. Promise I'll do my best to post more often... Meanwhile, be sure to visit each day next week as I'll be featured in Growing in Unity from Unity Stamp Co.

See you Monday!

A brief come back!

Hi!

I know everytime I post, I say I'll try to keep the blog updated... unfortunately, I've not been able to do so. But for a good reason! Being a mom is a full time job. Being a WAHM (Working at home mom) is like having 3 jobs at the same time!!!! This coming week I'll be participating in the Growing in Unity from Unity Stamp Co. As you may know, it is one of my favorite stamp companies. I don't even know how many stamps from them I own but I sure love all of them. This week I'll be sharing creations with their stamps. Be sure to comment everyday for a chance to win Unity stamps! See you in a few days! :)
