Now, on to my card. My son's birthday is in a few weeks. So I wanted to make a card for him. It is not a typical birthday card, but, it's true! I like him more than ice cream.  He just love colors. I just had to use one of Unity's paper packs Rainbow Vibes. I mean, could this paper be more adorable?! My son LOVES ice cream too so the choice of paper from the pack was pretty obvious. I used a stamp from the Kit of the Month Kit Sweet Summer Love from June 2012. It's an oldie but it has great timeless images and sentiments. That ice cream truck, I just love it!. I used Copics to color the image. Added some dots using regular glittered glue and, of course, used Glossy Accents too. The die used is from Gina Marie.

Welcome back! Middle of the week already. Today I bring you 2 cards using the same stamp set. I used the set Colorful Day I hadn't used this one yet and was eager to ink it up. In the same purchase, I got some Deco foil transfer gel and Deco Foil transfer sheets in Rainbow Shattered Glass that I also hadn't used. So this was actually my first time using it!

For this first card, I foiled the background first. I learned after this first ever try, that the gel dries very fast so that's why I got this distressed look. Although I was a little bummed at first, after looking it for a minute, I liked the look. I colored the brush with Copics and used Glossy Accents for the hearts on the brush. At first, I wasn't going to use any other embellishment on the card but then... a little somebody, who shall remain unnamed, ate ice cream near my card and a drop fell on it. So to cover it, I used the rhinestones. Happy accident!

A closer look... I really loooove how the foil looks on the brush!

For the second card,  I decided the make the background using the paint splatter stamp in the set and then foiled it. Again, not perfect but I like it. I cut a frame with a paper trimmer out of golden cardstock. The brush again was colored with Copics. This one has Glossy Accents on the metal part of the brush. It's hard to capture in pictures, but the colors look so vibrant in person.

Upcycled series: a Father's day gift / Regalo para Padres

Bienvenidos a otra entrada de "Upcycled Series".  Hoy les presento un proyecto que fué publicado en la Revista Papeles y Más edición abril/mayo 2014. Para este proyecto reusé una caja de las meriendas de mi bebé. Quería una manera original de presentar un regalo para papa el Día de los Padres. Para forrar la caja: primero le dí color a papel de acuarela con "distress inks" y lo mojé con agua para que los colores se difuminaran. Estampé la imagen de bigotes (sello de Lawn Fawn) con Memento ink (Tuxedo Black). Para el interior de la caja, estampé diseño (sello de Lawn Fawn también) en cartulina marrón. Luego forré la caja con los papeles. La hermosa imagen es un sello de Stamp a Hoot que coloreé con Copics. El troquel y los otros sellos son de Lawn Fawn. Ahora mi parte favorita... La bola de pelota es una camisa, el regalo, doblado en esa forma. La coloqué dentro de una pequeña bolsa transparente y le hice las lineas de la pelota con un Copic rojo. ¡Me encanta! Esto podrías hacerlo con cualquier regalo que se pueda doblar: medias, ropa interior entre otros. Si no es blanco lo que vas a regular, podrías envolverlo primero en papel blanco y luego colocarlo dentro de la bolsa transparente. Abajo tienen unas cuantas fotos del proceso y del projecto terminado. Espero que este proyecto les sirva de inspiración. Ya saben, cualquier pregunta no duden en comentar y/o enviarme mensajes.

Welcome to another entry of the Upcycled Series. Today's project was published in the April/May 2014 edition of  Revista Papeles y Más. For this project, I upcycled a box of my baby's snacks. I wanted and original way to present a Father's Day gift. To cover the box: I first colored watercolor papel with distress inks and sprinkled water over it to blend the colors. Then I stamped the mustaches (Lawn Fawn) with Memento ink (Tuxedo Black). For the inside of the box, I stamped a wood grain pattern (Lawn Fawn) on brown cardstock. After all papers were dry, I covered the box. The cute image is a stamp from Stamp a Hoot stamps that I colored with Copics. I also used Lawn Fawn dies and other stamps. Now, to my favorite part... the baseball ball is actually the gift, a shirt. I first rolled and formed it into a ball shape and then put it inside a clear small plastic bag. I used a red Copic to color the lines to make it look like a baseball. You could do this to any other "shapeable" gift: shirts, socks, underwear, etc. If it's not white, you could first cover the gift with white paper and then put it inside the clear bag. Above you can see pictures of the "making off" and the end product! I hope this project inspires you all. As you know, any questions, just comment and/or leave a message.

 

Inspired: Space Bday

This month's "Inspired" project is a birthday card. It's inspired by a visit I did last summer with my stepsons and baby JT to the Children's Museum in Carolina, Puerto Rico. We had a lot of fun that day! From all the exhibits there, the kids learned a lot in one from the Universe. It had this computer thing in the middle where an employee selected a planet from the Solar System and the huge ball in the middle lighted up with the image of the planets and he then gave very interesting info of that planet (see pic below). I'm planning to take them again to the museum soon. If you visit PR, and have kids, it's a must go. So, I made an space bday card, future robot included. I used a stamp set from Michael's, Stampin' Up & Lawn Fawn and lots of distress inks and Copics.

El proyecto "Inspired" de este mes es una tarjeta de cumpleaños. Está inspirada por la visita que dimos mis hijastros, JT y yo al Museo del Niño en Carolina, Puerto Rico el pasado verano. ¡Que mucho nos divertimos ese día! De todas las exhibiciones, los chicos aprendieron mucho en una que era del Universo. Tenía una computadora al centro donde un empleado seleccionaba un planeta del Sistema Solar y una bola gigante se prendía con la imagen del planeta entonces él daba datos interesantes sobre el planeta. Estoy planificando volver a llevarlos pronto. Si visitas a PR y tienes niños, deben ir. Pues, hice una tarjeta de cumpleaños espacial, robot incluido. Usé sellos de Lawn Fawn, Stampin Up y Michael's más mucho "distress inks" y Copics.

¡Hola!

Hoy les presento una tarjeta con un mensaje muy bonito. A veces es difícil expresarle a alguien que uno aprecia y quiere que pueden contar con el apoyo de uno. ¡Pues esta tarjeta hace la tarea más fácil! Todos conocemos a alguien que está pasando por una situación difícil. Esta tarjeta es como la palmadita en la espalda que dice "no estas sol@".  Me inspire en la canción "Heart and Shoulder" de Heather Nova. Esa canción me encanta desde la primera vez que la escuche allá para los tiempos de "Dawson's Creek".  Utilicé Lawn Fawn stamps, Copics, alfiler,  y "Crystal effects" de Stampin Up para las gotas de agua. Recuerden: NUNCA estamos solos ;) Entraré esta tarjeta a la competencia de Lawnscaping Challenges 75: Dots and Hearts ya que tiene puntos y está hecha con amor <3!

Today's card has a pretty message. Sometimes is hard to express to somebody you care about that they can count on you. This card makes it easy to say. It says it for you! Everybody knows somebody that is going through some tough times. This card is like that  pat in the shoulder that says "It'll be alright". I was inspired by the song "Heart and Shoulder" from Heather Nova. I love this song since the first time I heard it back in the Dawson's Creek days. I used Lawn Fawn stamps, Copics, pin, and Crystal Effects for the rain drops. I'm bringing you more Dots and Hearts today. Today's card is my second entry for Lawnscaping Challenges #75: Dots and Hearts. I wanted to make a card combining traditional Valentine's day colors with non-traditional Valentine's day colors. I found this patterned paper in my stash that's perfect. Orange and yellow are not usually used for Valentine's day. I used Lawn Cuts "Puffy Star Stackables" and "Circle Stackables" on black cardstock. Then heat embossed with white embossing powder the sentiment that is from "Lucky Stars" stamp set. I Copic colored the owls (Critters in the Forest) and die cut with the coordinating Lawn Cut. I used a paper punch for the heart. The "I love you" is from the "Good Fortune" set. I used some Doodlebug Design Sprinkles for the finishing touch. Hoy les traigo más puntos y corazones. La tarjeta de hoy es mi segunda entrada a la competencia de Lawnscaping Challenges #75: Dots and Hearts. Yo quería hacer una tarjeta que combinara colores tradicionales de San Valentín con colores no-tradicionales. Encontré este papel de diseño entre mis papeles que me pareció perfecto. El anaranjado y amarillo no son colores tradicionalmente usados para San Valentín. Usé los troqueles de Lawn Fawn, Lawn Cuts "Puffy Star Stackables" y "Circle Stackables" en cartulina negra. Luego con la técnica de "heat embossing" y "embossing powder" blanco estampé el pensamiento del set "Lucky Stars". Coloreé con Copics los buhos (Critters in the Forest) y los corté con el troquel en coordinación. Usé un ponchador de papel para cortar el corazón. El "I love you" es del set "Good Fortune" también de Lawn Fawn. Para completer la tarjeta, coloque "sprinkles" de Doodlebug Designs. Los veo mañana en la segunda entrada de la serie "Inspired".

La tarjeta que les presento hoy es muy especial para mi. Mi pequeño ángel ya tiene 10 meses y no hay día que pasé que no le agradezca a Dios por la dicha de tenerlo. Miro al cielo y agradezco cada una de sus sonrisas :) Para esta tarjeta utilize los sellos de Lawn Fawn, Copics,"embossing powder" blando  y "Distress Inks". El reto de esta semana en Lawnscaping Challenges es utilizar cualquier producto "distress". Yo utilizé "distress inks" para recrear la noche en esta escena. Espero que les guste. ¡Hasta pronto!

Today's card is very special for me. Mi baby angel is 10 months old already. I'm so grateful to God for giving me the chance to be a mommy to such a special baby. I look at the sky and feel thankful for every one of his smiles :) For this card I used Lawn Fawn stamps, Copics, white embossing powder and Distress Inks. This week's Lawnscaping Challenges is to use any Distress product. I used distress inks to create the night sky in this scene. Hope you like it!

Una de las mejores cosas de vivir en Puerto Rico es que prácticamente todo el año es verano. En todo el año es posible hacer una barbacoa al aire libre y visitar la playa. ¡Amo el trópico! Esta tarjeta que hice para CASology's challenge week 57:cue word PICNIC me recordó esos momentos en familia haciendo barbacoa. Los sellos que utilizé son de Unity Stamp Co. Estos fueron coloreados con Copics. ¡Hasta luego!

One of the best things of living in Puerto Rico is that it is summer all year long. It is possible to invite friends to BBQ or go to the beach almost every single day :D I love the tropics! This card I made for CASology's challenge week 57:cue word PICNIC reminded me of that fact. All those casual family reunions. The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. and I also used Copics for this one. Pequeñas Notas/Little notes

El regreso a la escuela está a la vuelta de la esquina. Aquí en PR la mayoría comenzaron esta semana. Quise hacer un detalle para las madres que sus pequeños comiezan las clases. Esto es un proyecto 2 en 1 puesto que también aporta al planeta pues reciclé el rollo de cartón del papel de baño. El proyecto consiste en unas pequeñas notas de cariño que mama, papa o quién sea le pueden colocar a su pequeño ya sea en una libreta, con su merienda, en un libro o simplemente entregarle ese detalle a la mano. En las fotos pueden ver cómo lo hice y el resultado final.

Primero doblé uno de los lados para ver cómo quedaría pegado ese extremo. Corté el rollo de cartón para que quedara de unas 2.5 pulgadas aproximadamente. / First I folded one of the sides to see how it would look like. Then I cut the other side leaving about 2.5 inches.

Estampa tus imágenes preferidas (yo utilize sellos de Unity Stamp Co y Lawn Fawn)./Stamp your favorite images(I used Lawn Fawn and Unity Stamp Co stamps).

 

Luego con el pegamento de tu preferencia (yo utilizo para todos mis proyectos "Original Tacky Glue"), pegué el extremo doblando levemente el cartón. Sujétalo hasta que haya secado la pega. Vas a tener una especie de sobre de carton./ With the glue of your choice (I used Original Tacky Glue for all of my projects), glue together the side you previously folded. Hold it together until the glue is dry. You'll end up with some kind of envelope.

 



Corta cartulina blanca en 2.5 x 2.5 pulgadas y estampa tus imágenes y mensajes para el estudiante :) /Cut out 2.5 x 2.5 inches squares from white cardstock. Stamp your images and messages to the student. :)

 

  Guarda las notas dentro del sobre de cartón./ Store the notes inside the paper roll envelope.

¡Personaliza tu notita y dale la sorpresa a tu pequeño tesorito! / Write down a little "love" for your kid and surprise your student on the new school year!

 

 

 

Back to school is just around the corner. Here in Puerto Rico most schools started this week. I wanted to make a little something for moms to give their kids. This project is 2 in 1 since it also is a green one. I'm using toilet paper rolls for it. The project consists of cute little notes from mom (or dad of course) to put on your kids' lunch boxes, notebooks, backpacks or wherever you would like to put it with a cute "envelope" to store them as you make them. In the pictures you can see a brief tutorial of how to make one yourself and the final product. Hope you like it! Feel free to ask me any questions!

Hey!

Today's card was inspired by that yucky feeling... the feeling of being sick! I wanted to make a card for Lawnscaping's challenge: One layer but my body could not concentrate. Yes, thank you dear season allergies for that! Anyway... I've had this stamp set for a while and haven't used it yet. So, in honor of every time I sneezed, I made myself a "Get Well" card. Hope you guys like it! PS I'm better now :)

La tarjeta de hoy está inspirada en eso que no nos gusta sentir... en sentirse enfermo. Quería hacer una tarjeta  para la competencia de Lawnscaping's challenge: One layer pero mi querido cuerpo no se podía concentrar bien. ¡Gracias polvo del Sahara! Bueno, hace algún tiempo había comprado este set de sellos y no lo había utilizado. Asi que en honor a cada vez que estornudé ese día, me hice a mi misma una tarjeta de "Que te mejores". Espero que les guste. PS ya me siento mucho mejor ;)

Today's card is inspired by a beautiful picture from the Pinspired Challenge #13 (below you'll see the picture). I love strawberries! The stamp from Unity Stamp Co was perfect for this challenge. It's been a while since I didn't use my Copics so I was excited to color this picture. Hope you like it as much as I do. ;)

Recently one of my husband's nieces was hospitalized. I could't visit her at the hospital because of my pregnancy :( Thank God, she is all OK now, at home. I made her this card "Your Smile makes me happy" because she has the cuttest smile there is and of course, who doesn't smile when eating ice cream??!! :) The ice cream from the image really smells like cherry ( I used Stampin Up's scented powder). All patterned papers are from one of my faves, Bella Blvd. I'll be entering this one to the following challenges: Young Crafters Unite "Hot trends", CAS-ual Fridays CFC69 "Embossing", and Simon Says Stamp's "Put a stamp on it".

PS At the moment this posts was published, she was hospitalized again :( We hope with all our heart that Leysha gets better soon. Tio Tau and titi Anya love you very much.

 Recientemente una de las sobrinas de mi esposo estuvo hospitalizada. Yo no pude visitarla en el hospital por mi embarazo. Pero gracias a Dios, ya ella se encuentra muy bien en su casa. Le hice esta tarjetita "Your Smile makes me happy" porque ella tiene una sonrisa hermosa y pues, quién no sonrie cuando come helado! :) El helado de la imagen también tiene olor a cereza. (Utilize Stampin Up's scented powder). Todos los papeles de diseño son de una de mis lineas favoritas, Bella Blvd. Estaré entrando esta tarjeta a las siguientes competencias: Young Crafters Unite "Hot trends", CAS-ual Fridays CFC69 "Embossing", and Simon Says Stamp's "Put a stamp on it".

Ready to POP!!! / A punto de reventar!!! :)

¡Hola a todos!
Al fin me puedo sentar a escribirles algo. Desde los preparativos para la llegada de mi principito, trabajo y el echo de que mi computadora está dañada, no he tenido oportunidad casi ni de sentarme a crear ni publicar nada. Les presento esta tarjeta que me disfruté mucho crearla. Ver mis dedos llenos de tinta y pegamento me hace feliz :) La tarjeta se llama "Ready to POP" pues así mismo me siento, a punto de reventar. Ya tengo 33 semanas de embarazo y me estoy poniendo nerviosa!!!! Sé que voy a extrañar mucho sentir a mi bebé en mi barriguita. Pronto les pongo una foto mia ;)

 

Voy a estar entrando esta tarjeta en la competencia de "Lawnscaping Challenges" "Make your own patterned paper with stamps". La competencia consiste en crear un papel de diseño utilizando sellos.

 

 Todos los sellos que utilizé son de Lawn Fawn: Plus One y Harold's ABCs. Las tintas son de Stampin Up. También utilizé "Dimensionals"(Stampin Up), alambre,brillo, "Crystal Effects" (Stampin Up)  y Copics. ¡Espero que les guste!

 

Hi everyone!!!

At last I can sit down and write a post! From getting ready to welcome my little prince, work and the little fact that my laptop is not working, I haven't had a chance to create anything even less post. I'm presenting this card that I enjoyed making a lot. To see my fingers all stained with ink and glue makes me happy :) The card is called "Ready to POP" because that's exactly how I feel. I'm 33 weeks pregnant by now and I'm starting to get nervous!!! I know I'll miss feeling my baby move inside me. I'll post a pic of me soon ;) I'll be entering this card to  "Lawnscaping Challenges" "Make your own patterned paper with stamps". All stamps are from Lawn Fawn: Plus One y Harold's ABCs. Gender Reveal Invitation/Invitación del "Gender Reveal BBQ"

Hola!!!

Estoy ya en mi sexto mes de embarazo. Toda la familia estaba muy ansiosa de saber qué tendré, niño o niña. Haciendo busquedas en internet encontré que los "gender reveal parties" están muy de moda en los EU. Yo inicialmente quería esperar hasta que diera a luz para saber que tendría. Pero, ¡Que dificil es ir a las tiendas loca por comprar y no poder! Así que para hacerlo de manera diferente, decidí hacer un "gender reveal BBQ party, puertorrican edition" :) Nadie de mis amigos, familia y compañeros de trabajo sabían lo que era eso, lo que hizo que fuera mucho más emocionante la planificación de la actividad. En los próximos posts les iré revelando los detalles del "making-of" y luego de la actividad que quedó genial. A última hora me decidí a hacer las invitaciones. Por todo el ajetreo y los síntomas del embarazo ha sido mucho menos tiempo el que he podido dedicar a mis pasatiempos. Les presentó la invitación. La hice utilizando cartulina de Stampin Up. Los sellos son de una de mis líneas favoritas: Lawn Fawn (Plus One & Harold's ABC). Utilizé Spellbinders para el "banner" que lee "¿Qué será?", Copics para colorear, "Crystal Effects" de Stampin Up, Distress Inks en Dusty Concord y Tumbled Glass, y Memento Ink en Tuxedo Black. I'm already six months pregnant. My family is very ansious to know what I'll have, a boy or a girl. I made internet searches and found out that gender reveal parties are ver "in" in the US. I initially wanted to wait 'till I gave birth to know what it is. But it's too hard to go shopping and see all the cute baby stuff and not being able to buy a lot of things because I didn't know the gender of my baby. That's why I decided to have a "Gender Reveal BBQ party, puertorrican edition" :) None of my friends, family or coworkers knew what a gender reveal party was so it made it a lot more fun and exciting to plan it!. In the next posts I'll be revealing all the details of the "making-of" of the BBQ and then from the BBQ party which turned out great! At the last minute, I decided to make some invitations. Because all the things I had to do and my pregnancy symptoms, I do not have enough time to craft :(. Here's the invitation. I used Stampin Up cardstock. All the stamps are from one of my favorites Lawn Fawn (Plus One & Harold's ABC). I also used Spellbinders for the banner, Copics, Stampin Up's Crystal Effects, Distress Inks in Dusty Concord y Tumbled Glass, and Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. I'll be entering this cards to the Lawnscaping Challenge #36 Color Splash. Soon I'll reveal if it is a boy or a girl. ;)
